Following an eclectic approach in collegiate studies, including Business, Psychology and Philosophy, Roy Stewart graduated from The Center For The Media Arts, NY, NY with a certificate degree in Television Production. This led to positions as a video editor for production companies. He continued his education at New York University School of Professional Studies with courses in Cinema, Directing, and Screenwriting resulting in a certificate degree in Film Production

Mr. Stewart also attended New York University Graduate School of Film - Tisch School of the Arts. During his tenure at NYU Grad Film, Mr. Stewart wrote, produced and directed additional films concurrent with classes in Producing, Directing, Screenwriting, Editing and Cinematography.

 

Mr. Stewart supplemented his studies with professional film directing and screenwriting seminars and workshops including Robert McKee, the American Film Institute, Paul Gray, Guy Magar and Dov Simens.

 

As an aid for idea generation and screenplay development, Mr. Stewart is an ongoing student of the "perennial philosophy" which draws from African, Asian, Celtic, Egyptian, Gnostic Christianity, Greek, Hindu, Jewish, Native North, Native South American and Tibetan religions, philosophies, and mythologies.

 

He also studied the magnificent work and legacy of world-renowned mythologist, the late Joseph Campbell - who was a mentor and friend to George Lucas (Star Wars). After all, it was Joseph Campbell who said, "If you're going to have a story, have a big story, or none at all." As such, Mr. Stewart has a passion for Action Thriller, Action Adventure, YA Adventure-Fantasy and Sci Fi Action genres.
